Tricuspid Incompetence – Causes

The causes of a tricuspid incompetence:

  • functional
    • right ventricular failure (RVF)
    • rheumatic
    • right heart subacute bacterial endocarditis (SBE)
    • congenital (Ebstein’s anomaly)
  • tricuspid valve prolapse (rare)
  • right ventricular papillary muscle dysfunction
  • trauma – steering wheel on sternum
