Autism

Autism defines a spectrum of disorders of impaired social communication with an onset before 30 months of age occurring in about 1 in 100 children with a male preponderance (2-4 x). Because of a causal overlap, almost 80% of those on the autism spectrum will show some level of developmental delay; although significant improvements occur as patients grow older and not to mention the many higher functioning autistics, such as those with Asperger syndrome.
