Submandibular Lymphadenopathy

Drainage to submandibular lymph nodes:

  • submental nodes
  • lateral part lower lip
  • entire upper lip and external nose
  • anterior tongue – usually ipsilaterally
  • paranasal sinuses: frontal, anterior and middle ethmoidal, maxillary
  • teeth (except lower incisors)

Drainage to submental lymph nodes:

  • wedge of tissue in floor of mouth: opposite lower four incisors
  • teeth, gums, lip and tip of tongue

Drainage from submental lymph nodes:

  • submandibular lymph nodes
  • upper deep cervical nodes

Caveat: Never trust a lymphatic.
